WJP's Development and Communications teams are seeking a full-time, paid intern to work remotely with the possibility of work in the Seattle office pending stay-at-home orders for the COVID-19 pandemic. The Intern must have access to a laptop and to a reliable internet source for remote work. The position will begin in early September and run through mid-December, with some flexibility. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Resource Development and Communications intern will provide support to the WJP Development and Communications departments, to include:

  • Provide administrative support to include preparing and updating collateral and fundraising materials;
  • Provide data-entry support for an ongoing project for the organization's database;
  • Provide other support to the Development Department in logging and maintaining organizational records to include weekly duplicate checks, merging, and other functions as necessary;
  • Provide Communications support for Salesforce database records maintenance including logging media daily mentions;
  • Update WJP website (Drupal) news page content monthly with media mentions of WJP's research and activities;
  • Proofread and edit development and communications-related documents;
  • Conduct weekly research to identify potential funding and partnership sources;
  • Assist with preparations for meetings and presentations, including producing drafts of presentations and handouts, and preparing and assembling outreach materials;
  • Support in organizing the end of year mailing campaign to include compiling historic mailing information, updating contact records, and updating collateral as needed;
  • Other development, communications and administrative tasks as needed.


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (completed or currently pursuing) in social sciences, journalism, economics, policy studies, regional studies, communications, public relations, or a related field;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and collaboration tools (Slack, Skype);
  • Database experience a plus (Salesforce);
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently and ability to give and receive feedback;
  • Highly dependable with ability to be flexible on day-to-day tasks;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent problem-solving skills, and attention to detail;
